MODESTO – Today, Assemblymember Juan Alanis announced a major win for his district highlighting the successful return of over $1 million in rightfully owed funds directly back into the pockets of constituents through the state’s Employment Development Department (EDD) system.
“Despite ongoing frustrations with the EDD bureaucracy, constituents have paid into the EDD system their entire working lives and deserve to see those benefits when they need them most,” said Assemblymember Alanis. “I’m proud that my office was able to cut through the red tape and deliver these financial victories for families across our district.”
Taxpayers who pay into the system are entitled to various benefits through the Employment Development Department (EDD), including unemployment insurance, disability insurance, and paid family leave. Unfortunately, oftentimes those benefits remain out of reach due to the agency’s persistent accessibility issues and delays. However, Alanis’ office has stepped up time and again, turning those roadblocks into real results for those who need them.
“Our office serves as the direct link to your state government, and it’s important that agencies remain accessible,” said the Assemblymember. “No matter the obstacles, my team will keep fighting to bring home what’s owed to our constituents and hold agencies accountable.”
Residents of the 22nd Assembly District who need assistance with EDD, or any state agency, can reach out to Assemblymember Alanis’ office at 209-521-2201 or Assemblymember.Alanis@assembly.ca.gov.
Assemblymember Juan Alanis represents the 22nd Assembly District, which includes the communities of Modesto, Turlock, Ceres, Denair, Patterson, Gustine, Newman, Hilmar, Ballico, Snelling, Keyes, Grayson, Crows Landing, Diablo Grande, Stevinson, & Empire.
