SACRAMENTO — Assemblyman Juan Alanis (R-Modesto) announced today that Assembly Bill 387 (AB 387) passed the Senate Education Committee on a unanimous, bipartisan vote and now advances to the Senate Floor for consideration by the full Senate.
“I am grateful to Chair Perez, the members of the Senate Education Committee, and committee staff for their thoughtful engagement and unanimous support of this important measure,” said Assemblyman Alanis. “I also want to thank the many stakeholders who have worked with us over the past several months to improve the bill. Protecting children during youth sports is a responsibility we all share, and I remain committed to continuing our work together to ensure this legislation is both effective and practical to implement.”
AB 387 continues Assemblyman Alanis’ efforts to strengthen the Nevaeh Youth Sports Safety Act by improving collaboration between youth sports organizations and the facilities where young athletes practice and compete, helping ensure lifesaving automated external defibrillators (AEDs) are available when they are needed most.
