CERES – Today, Assemblymember Alanis’s office formally recognized Itzel Romero as the Student of the Year for 2023 within the 22nd Assembly District.
“I am proud to recognize Itzel Romero as Student of the Year,” said Assemblyman Alanis. “Her dedication to her studies and extracurricular activities while being an active participant in the community is exactly why I chose her for this award.”
Itzel is a student at Central Valley High School in Ceres who has demonstrated a commitment to scholarship and leadership. She maintains excellent grades, reflecting her outstanding work ethic. She is also a student-athlete and participates in flag football, wrestling, and softball.
She has assumed multiple leadership roles both on campus and in the community. Itzel is involved in Leadership, Youth Advisory Council, Student Equity Cohort, California Scholarship Federation (CSF), ASB Club, ASB Secretary, Advanced Placement (AP) Spanish Literature Club, and Health & Medicine Club. During the pandemic, she even started her own small business, called Itzel’s Treats, to save up money for college. After she graduates from high school, she plans to attend either San Joaquin Valley College or the University of the Pacific.
