California’s Assembly Public Safety Committee holds first hearing under new leader

Republican Assemblyman Juan Alanis, the vice chairman of the committee, said in a statement in part, “I was pleased with our first day. It was an efficient hearing and, as the vice chair, I have appreciated the leadership from our chairman Assemblymember McCarty so far.”

Meanwhile, McCarty said there’s a lot of work to do on repeat offenders of retail theft, drug trafficking and tackling the issue of public safety overall.
